Hi,
I am sorry, I am posting this question here but i had no idea where to post.
A friend of mine was on F-1 and he was caught working illegally at a gas station. His lawyer fought the case at court, while my friend got married to a US citizen.
He recently recieved a letter that his application has been rejected. I am wonfering about what options does he have now? Can he change his status back to F-1 without leaving the country or can he file for any other status now that his application is in the system?
Where does he stand, does he have to go back now?
Thhankyou for your prompt reply

You have many options .
1. Please be sure to let your friend know that you cannot work off the books .. It is not the right thing to do .
2. You cannot break the law ... even if you dont know what the law says ... Be very careful .
3. Which court - was this a USCIS proceeding ?
4. Was your friend in school as a full time student ? Did he maintain his status ?
5. Now that he is married to a USC , his wrong doings with the law will be forgiven ..... He needs to persue his AOS application . Why was the application rejected .. Was there a RFE ? Was there a problem with the poverty line ? Was he in front of an immigration judge for deportation proceedings ?
