I am an Adult Indian citizen living in India. My father lives in the US and will be an US citizen early next year. From what I have read, my father can file for my GC once he becomes a US citizen. I have 2 questions re this.

1) What is the waiting time to getting a GC through this route? (Indicative timeline).

2) What happens to my application in case of my father's demise ?

Thanks,
Hema

1) If you're unmarried, several years (check the F1 category in the visa bulletin). If you're married, over a decade (check the F3 category).
2) The petition will be automatically revoked, but if you're living in the United States at the time of your father's death, you may be able to apply for 204(l) reinstatement (I would recommend hiring a lawyer for this). If you're not living in the United States at the time of your father's death, then the petition cannot be reinstated and cannot be used to immigrate to the United States.
