Question, surely lot of people in dilemma how long to stay with the employer who you were with when GC got approved. So, any idea how long is long enuf?
 
I dont think there is

a time limit specified anywhere. Heard it is like one year but then what about ac21 cases??

I asked this same question to my attorney she said that it is recommended to stick around for an extra year. If not, This could impact future and potential citizenship application if they see you didn't hold the current employer that sponsored your GC.

from what i heard from my attorney, as long as you stay with similar job duties, u should be fine. i dont think the INS can question the job change...like tombaan said, what abt the people who have availed of ac21?

1 year is too long.. .the consulting company will suck my money for another year after gc approval???

I heard the same stories, that you should stick 6 months minimum otherwise it will affect naturalization.

Anyone changed job before six months after getting GC approval?
 
I am changing from tomorrow

after 8 months with my company who filed my GC. Atlast what a freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is just a myth I guess. Never seen any INS rule that says you have to stick with sponsoring company.

AC21 is one good proof that you do not have to..

But you should be employed in same line of duty as per your LC for a year atleast. I know 99.00% change job the next month,
and the remaining .09% change the next day :D , the remaining .01% stick with the same company...
