GC and Canadian PR

Hi Guys,

I am in the process of AOS with my I485 pending. Some time back I had also applied for my Canadian PR. I wanted to know can a person have both GC and Canadian PR stamped in a passport? What happens in this case? If I get Canadian PR stamped in my passport first will that be a problem when I get my GC stamped? What happens to the PR once the GC is stamped?

Thanks for your replies,

-Savant

No problem if you have Canada PR at the time US PR.
But at POE entry the immigration officer may ask you to surrender either one. Till then NO worries NO tension No nothing.....

Good luck

I have the identical situation. I do not quite undersatnd the Port of Entry issue. I am here in US- so I suppose I will not have to go thru a POE. The issue is just stamping of Canadian GC and subsequently landing in Canada- if need be/whenever.
Has anyone done this.
Thanks

sb_tiger,

I am a little confused by this, if *possible* I would like to keep my Canadian PR along with GC, visit canada etc using PR. OF course if I need to submit the PR then this is a mute point. Has anyone successfully maintained Canadian PR along with US GC? The reason I want to do this is so that I can sponsor my parent's PR for Canada, there is obviously no chance of that in US in the near future.

Any pointers on this?

Anyways , it has two main phases.

In PHASE I , if you subit all required documents then they issue FILENO# usually it will take any where between 9 months -1 yrs or even more depends from the country u applying.

in PHASE II, if you are properly document every thing , then will send you medicals , once you cleared , landing will be last step.
If you they not statisfied and want to test your patience(JUST kidding) then they will ask you attend the interview.

Hope this helps
