GC alone no longer enough for travel 2007?

Hello all,

Currently it's sufficient to travel to Jamaica on greencard alone (without a passport). Will this change in 2007?

Things are changing starting 1/8/07. You need not just a GC to travel
to Jamaica/South America etc.

the link says thats cause a lot of people travel on their birth certificates and drivers license so now they need to get passports, but greencard already is like a passport. anybody has more info? my reentry permit is expiring and i dont think there is enough time to get a new one by Feb...
