Sorry just read this one. What happed was.....

I didn't receive my green card after more than 3,4 months after the interview. Meanwhile, I had new fingerprints taken on October 22, 2005, so I assumed that everything was fine. Eventually, I called them numerous times, I made infopass appointments and went to the Garden City office( by the way you cannot get one for GC), as well as to NYC office, but they also didn't give me any information. Another 3 months have passed, and then I got a notice of an appointment, scheduled on March 6th, 2006, reason – Adjustment of Status. My husband (US citizen) was out of town and could not come for this appointment. I went to Garden City to reschedule and hoping to talk to the immigration officer that interviewed me and my husband, but they didn't let me talk to anyone.
A month ago I personally submitted a written enquiry about status on my case..no response.
Just today I went to my congressman office and left there a letter describing my situation. They said it may take up to 6 weeks. Personally I don't think they can do much, but hey that's the only think that left.

It really surprise that some here tell me to go online to check my status or make an info pass. PEOPLE DON'T YOU KNOW THAT ONLINE THERE IS NOT UPDATE AND INFOPASS DOESN'T DO MUCH.

I will wait or not..will see..

Best of luck.

Sorry just read the ending again.
Yes I read these already. What helped some people was calling the officer, but unfortunatelly I forgot mines name. I called once Garden City, to ask how can I find out his name, and the guy told me to go there in person and ask them.
So I did, and of course they were very rude, and told me I don't need to know that, Just feel out this form to enquire about status on your case....

Very frustrating.

anigma,
In my opinion you can be a little more pushy with the congressman's office. When dealing with the USCIS you want to be careful not to piss anyone off if you haven't received a decision yet. However with the congressman's office, if you filed through a USC spouse (i filled through my mother), make him or her act on your behalf as a voter. Tell the secretary at the congressman's office that you know that other congressman's office have a number where they can call the USCIS directly and find out the stutus instantly. Don't settle for the 6 week turn around time crap. If you are successful with your inquiry ask the congressman's office to schedule an appointment to have your passport stamped if they tell you were approved. The key is that with the USCIS we are nobody and with the congressman's your spouse is an influential voter and taxpayer. Good luck and keep us posted :)
