My friend had her N-400 interview in Garden City, NY mid-April. She was told she needed fingerprint clearence and she found out her fingerprints cleared with FBI sometime in January. She wrote to the Garden City office with this info and no luck. She awaits the oath ceremony letter. Anyone experienced this or has any thoughts?

Can you post her interview experience, from the outcome of the interview we can at least speculate what went on. Also can you post her time line.

Thanks.

Her interview went well, the fingerprint clearence was the only part that was missing. She was told it would take about 60 days for the whole issue to clear up (which will be up next week) and if she heard nothing, to write a letter afterwards. She applied in December, was fingerprinted in January and went for her interview in April. The process went quickly for her but neither she or I can understand what the delay really is. Any opinions will be greatkly appreciated.

Can you post in detail how the interview went , what questions were asked , what documents were requested and at the end whether she was given a written decision of the outcome of the interview ( a form called N652 ).

Post the interview experience in details.

Thanks.

She was told that she passed the tests but they were unable to decide due to fingerprint clearence. She was also told that the whole matter should be solved within 60 days, if not to write the interviewing office a letter after 60 days. I think she is stuck with the name check problem, given the fact that the fingerprint were processed and sent to USCIS in January. Do you think an infopass would help at this point?

Still you have not mentioned any thing about the paper notice called N652, handed over to applicants after they complete the interview, were you given this notice , if yes , what boxes are marked on this notice ?

The boxes marked were that she had passed the history, writing and oral exam, that a decision could not be made due to fingerprint clearence needed (this part was handwritten) and that a decision will be send in the mail once it is made.

Normally FP results are sent from FBI to USCIS in 24hours , you might need to call the FBI to check when they sent the results to USCIS.

If it only comes to FP results , then you are by far in good condition, at least you don't have any issue with Name Check.

That is the point. She called FBI and her fingerprints were processed in January and result was sent to USCIS. She wrote to interviewing officer with this info and nothing happened. The officer said this issue would be solved in 60 days, if not, to write him a letter. This would be the second letter, he never replied to the first one. Where do you go from here????????

Then, I am afraid to say that , your case is Name Check delay than FBI finger print check..

Just guessing!!! I would suggest INFOPASS and ask what is going on.

Good luck.

I just can't understand why the officer would write fingerprint clearence needed instead of name check cleareance needed...Any ideas?

Try this out , Go to your ASC ( where you took your finger print ) and ask them to confirm if your FP sent and processed. They can tell you right there.
