hi all,

my wife and me went AOS interview on May 10th, 2005 at garden city, new york and got approved. the officer is quite nice...the interview lasted only 10 minutes top, asked some general questions...then told us everything is fine, we got approved and should receive the green card in mail within 2 to 3 weeks. btw, he didn't stamp on passport and took the I-94 card.

but now today is July 11th, it's been 2 months and nothing received...not even approval notice or welcome letter. online status didn't change either(it starts with MSCxxxx...)

anyone has the same situation? just curious if this is normal...because i heard that Garden city is actually quite efficient. thanks for sharing!

hello enjoynterm,

my interview was in Garden city too, on April 11...my story sounds exactly the same - we got approved, and we were told the card will be in the mail within 3 weeks - nothing since then. I went to the NYC office 3 times and submitted at least 4 requests - still nothing. they don't know anything in the NYC office, because the information is " not in the computer" they said. i am going crazy....last time I went to the NYC office, they told me to go to Garden city and talk to them. The problem is - at Garden city they don't really have an information desk or any place where you can go and talk to someone. The only thing you can do is write your question on a piece of paper and put it in a box...then pray for a miracle...no need to tell you that that is never going to happen.
I don't know what to do. Last thing I did was to write to congresswoman Maloney. Let's see how this is going to work out.
Please keep in touch and let me know if you get to break the " magic" circle and actually get information on what is going on somehow....
And by the way - do you know the name of the officer who interviewed you?

no we didn't pay attention to his name...he is from LA though. he looks neat, tall and thin.

i called lawyer, lawyer said it's normal. he said in nyc it's normal to take 6 months to get it. but garden city should be quicker, he doesn't know what's going on. anyway, lawyer asked me to wait another month then they will do the inquiry. i'll post if get updates.

Did your lawyer tell you what request he is going to submit? I know for a fact that the requests submitted over the phone with the customer servise and the requests made in person at the NYC office don't bring any results. I have submitted 7 of them (altogether)....

I'll let you know if I make any progress.

Thanks.

lawyer doesn't have special way to deal with it...just regular routine as he told me. he just said it's normal to take 6 months in nyc to finally finish everything even after approval. it's case by case, some ppl can get it quick and some ppl are slow...seems wait is the only solution
