G-325A - residence question

Sorry for having so many questions.:o

We have married for almost 2 years and my wife has been studying in a university 4 hours by driving for the last 2 years. Her primary address/mail address has been always the place we’re living (Address A). But it’s a studio apartment (It’s very expensive to rent in NYC and we want to save money), so she is not on the lease. At the same time she shares an apartment (Address B) close to the university where she’s studying. She always comes back during every school breaks and I always go to visit her in the weekends.

Will this situation cause any problem? Should she list the shared apartment (Address B) on the G-325A form as one of the residences?

She should report address A without a doubt coz that is her perm address. I'm hoping that she receives her US mail at that address A too.
To give u an example. I am a consultant and right now I am working in Boston. I have leased this place for 6 months but my perm address is in Atlanta. I have always written my Atlanta address on all my immigration forms.

Absolutely not. You just need to stick to one address which is your perm address. If you report, then things can get confusing that how come AR-11 (change of address) was not reported. It is not that you have moved. This is just your secondary temp address, thats all so that should not even come in the picture.
 
Well, I'm not sure I agree (or disagree) that she should list address A.

To give you an example: when we applied, my wife also lived about 4 hours away (in her parent's home, she moved back there for school and later work after having lived with me at my address for a couple of years) and we also visited on weekends/school holidays.

In our case, my wife's DL address was her parent's address; her pay stubs and most of her mail went to her parent's address; her school had her parent's address; most of her bank and credit accounts had her parent's address; her car insurance was listed on her parent's address. However, she had a lease at my address and our joint address for taxes is my address. However, we decided that most of her evidence was at her parent's address and that she spent a lot more time "living" there than at my address.

So in your case I'd examine some of those same things. DL? Pay stubs? School records? Car insurance? Mail? Utilities? Credit cards? Bank accounts? Taxes? ... If you want to be conservative about it, it would probably not be considered incorrect if you list address B. After all, she has a lease there and spends what looks like 70% of her time living there. However, if you have a lot of evidence that she uses Address A for everything except weekday sleeping and eating I suppose Address A would be ok as well! (Maybe you should add her to your lease? Does the rate depend on the number of occupants? Or is only one occupant allowed? We live in a 400 sq ft studio apartment as well! :) )

Whatever you decide to do, you have to make sure it doesn't look like you're trying to conceal the fact that you live together on weekends at the moment. It wouldn't be a bad idea to mention it somewhere in the application or to be prepared to talk about it when the IO asks you about the details of your current living situation. (Maybe I'm just paranoid but our IO wasn't too pleased that we had school and jobs in different cities and only saw each other on weekends!)

austriacus definitely makes a valid point here but trhe reason I asked you to stick with address "A" is if you get your bills and all your mail at address A. Also if your DL reflects address "A". The way I understaood was that you were on address "B" just on temp basis. After your school or whatever you are doing for that given amount of period is done at address "B", you will return back to address "A" which is again your perm address.

I gave you my example earlier. Back in 2006-2007 time period when I had applied for my citizenship, I was working in Alabama, but still kept my perm place/address in Atlanta, GA. Same thing now, I am working in Boston and still have my perm place in Atlanta. I just got my IL at my Atlanta address.

I don't know if this makes sense to you guys.

Also the temp address B actually includes a couple of different places (she moved a couple times) but no AR-11 for each of them (we thought that’s confusing to file AR-11 since they’re only temp living place and at one of the places she just stayed for one month). We’re planning to look for a bigger apartment once she graduates, so we can list her name on the lease.

What I’m confused is should I list address B on the form at all? List all of the temp living places of address B? I plan to do not list address B and explain the situation to IO in interview (I’m sure the IO will ask), but afraid IO could misunderstand.

I told the officer to arrange the oath for me that very same day after the interview. I told him that I'm currently working in Boston on a project and have a flight back this evening. It will be very difficult for me to fly back to Atlanta again for the oath ceremony. Prior to that this same officer knew that I came for the interview all the way from Alabama. I used to call him up from Alabama to ask him the status of my missing file. Keep in mind I was called for the interview 3 times. They just scheduled me not knowing where my file was. The point I am trying to make is, the officer did not care where I work or traveling from. All he confirmed was my perm address in Atlanta on the day of the interview, that's all.

Personally I would not confuse USCIS with address "B" at all. As long as your base/perm address is address "A" thats what matters so stick with address "A".
