I did and it was very helpful. I listed both my email address and cell phone number and kept getting both emails and sms messages every time my case was updated. You'll also need to set up an account with USCIS at:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp;jsessionid=bacNVPDhyKEKhbyH2H6Zt

to see your case status. Good luck in your journey!
