Actually those are the questions that I prepared and the amount of time I spent on the interview preparation and if I have

spent this time I would have definitely bagged in top 100 of JEE :)

Well going into details for the interview today at a remote place in USA.

My interview is scheduled at 1.30 PM October 19th, 2005 and 2.00 PM for my wife. We reached the Portland(Maine) District

Office at 1.15 PM.

This is the same guy who was there when we gave finger prints 2 months back(July 7th 2005). We gave the interview letters and

then we are called at 1.45 PM and then asked to sign a form full signature and finger print right index finger both front and

back.

The he asked for the photos. Please take atleast 4 photos no matter they are mentioned or not because when they transfer they

ask for recent photos. We took photos before itself.

He said he will call for interview. After 15 minutes he called us for interview. Then he started asking for documents and it

is pretty straight forward. He asked for Case Disposition [ Certified Case Disposition] is what they look for. If one is not

sure what it is call the court and then send request by fax or mail and request them. This is a must when a person is

arrested and it does not matter if they are convicted or not.

I checked the BOX 1 : 3b in the 485 Application that I got arrested and furnished all the documents related to the case.

Do you work for petitioner or not? I said no and then he asked if I do the same work to which I said yes.

He asked my current employer letter and then I gave my letter and visiting card. He saw that I work in Maine and he was

talking about New Jersey and Maine. He worked in Newark office before. We are then talking about how peaceful Maine is.

I used my Advance Parole Petition to come back to US to attend this interview and then asked If I am going back to Europe

again and then he asked my wife if I am also going? She said she cannot go because she had lots of work and more over I will

be travelling within europe hence she does not want to go. He then laughed.

He asked me if I was ever arrested to which I said YES and then told the date and mentioned that I furnished the details in

the application. I gave the certified Case disposition and then told the date. He took the original to his files and told me

that is the honest answer.

He asked the tax returns and I gave all the years and he kept in his file.

Couple of questions he asked:
(1) When did you enter in USA?

(2) Did you legally enter USA or not?

(3) Asked my wife what she does?

He knows about India and Indian people and Indian restraunts in the region.

He asked my wife the standard questions like arrested, drugs etc.

He then asked about Marriage Certificate original and also a copy and then wrote down the marriage date on the copy and kept

it in his files.

Tips: Please note

(1) Always wear professional clothing(do not wear jeans) etc.

(2) Always take 4 extra photos with you.

(3) Make copies of all the documents everything and place them in order. Order the Original documents so that you can give

the Officer the moment they ask instead of searching. Searching irritates the officer sometimes.

(4) Never Ever joke when he talks about terrorism, etc.

(5) NEVER EVER Open your mouth and say something the officer never asked. Always answer to the questions they asked and give

the documents they asked. Not a word more or less and not a document more or less. The more enthu we go for the more we dig

ourselves in quicksand. I consulted a attorney and that moron wants to disclose a small typo in the documents filed. He is

not the attorney who filed but the attornet who is local. He is such a idiot and he charged me 700 dollars and wants to

accompany me. I said to myself enough is enough and then asked to return money and he returned 3/4 of it. Thumb Rule: If you

have all the documentation you can go yourself. Moreover the attorney does not have a role to play and they sit like statue

there and the questions are directed to us.

Future Employement Tips:

(1) Always take the employment letters: (a) The offer letter dated when the Labor Certification is filed. (b) Offer letter

that states continuing offer letter(dated the day before the interview or during the week). (c) A letter addressing to the

immigration officer stating your job, salary, responsibilities.

(2) Take the current job employment with your Status eg. EAD or H1, your salary, role and responsiblities etc.

(3) If you have your business card give it along with the letter it always carries some value. Atleast in my case it did.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

I wasn't stamped!!

Hope74,
I was not stamped because there are no visa number availabilty. He took down our phone numbers and he also said that he will give a call once the visa numbers become availabilty.

I also have other contacts within the DO through the Congress Person so they will constantly update me :) But one thing is for sure this place has given me a fortune. It is both at personal and professional. People are so friendly and I never seen that anywhere else in States.

I asked specifically if all the documents are perfect he said YES and only thing that is STOPPING is Visa Number. So I am fine there. He took away all our I94's which is an indication that 485 is approvable.

Virtually our 485 is approved but technically NOT unless visa numbers are available. So is the case with many other.

Thanks Rayudu
