Hi friends,

What are acceptable options for funds for supporting yourself in Canada-

Can you take Amex Travellers Checks in US$ while landing in Canada?

Do you need to show funds proof (to the amount of Candian $9000 even if you are just going there for establishing the landing status and will go back to India after 4-5 days?

My sister will be landing in Canada from India. I live in the US. I want to provide financial support to my sister- what are the options to do that? Will Canadian authorities accept a letter from me to that effect supported by my bank statement as proof of funds?

** If you are landing from US, UK then they accept Bank statement as froof of Funds, If you are coming from India they do not accept bank statements from Indian banks

**One adult has to show/bring minimum 10000CDN not 9000

**Your Sister should bring the Funds, a letter from you will NOT be accepted.
**If you want to help her send money to India then she can get Amex Traveller checks or Bank draft drawn on any Canadian bank in Canada. FYI State Bank of India has branch in Toronto Canada, she can get a Draft on that bank on her name.
