From I-485 approval to plastic card, and stamping experience

Can anybody share an experience how long it usually takes to recieve your GC in the mail after approval in VSC
(or stamping)? I have heard that it may vary from few weeks to months?

Also, when I go for stamping do I need a letter from my sponsor that I am still officially employed?
Any other documents required?
