I filed my I-485 on May 18th and waiting for FP. In the meantime, my project is over and this branch (my company has branches in different locations) doesn\'t have any other client to show me. My labour is location specific. Having these scenarios, here is my question.
   I may get a client with the same company in a different location. If I have to be in the same location, I have to switch company. So which one is safer? Being with the same company at a different location than that of LC or being with a different company at the same location as of LC? Please advise.

Stop worring about LC. It\'s the past now.

I guess you\'re a consultant, and if you\'re getting paystubs with the same company name, client\'s site location doesn\'t really matter.
The worst thing you could do is to change the company just to stay in the same locality. In that case you\'re guaranteed to start over with I-140 and I-485.
At this point nobody really care where you work, unless you get paid by completely different branch that it is completly separate business unit

Thank you for the info. Yes, I am a consultant. I may have to work in a different location under a completely different branch but under the same name. The Employer\'s Fed Tax ID will be the same but the employer\'s state id will be different. In that case, will it affect my GC? Any idea? By the way, 180 days will be over shortly, if I count from RD. Has it to be counted from RD or ND?
 
Your Q\'s are complex

I have seen lots of discussion on the Qs that you have raised, i.e. if the 180 days start from RD or ND and transferring within the same company, but a different business unit.

I would suggest consulting a good attorney, one who has handled lots of complex EB cases, not one who simply handles regular EB cases.

Have you ever looked at approved LC for your position?

...since yours is the consulting position, the LC might already be stating the "working at multiple locations". Your company has to assure INS that upon your GC approval, you will be offered the same job as described in LC. Your 485 will not be approved without this letter. As long as your company states that, there is nothing to worry.
