First of all,i'm so glad that i could find this forum and be a member of ur group:)
I've some questions wanna ask u:
Is it necessary for an asylee(I-730 relative petition holder)to apply a EAD in order to be employed? I got confused that it 's inconsistent that my SS#card hadnt been printed "Valid for work only with INS authorization" but one employer required me to show him my EAD...that's really awful...anybody here have such experience?give me a hand pls...also pls tell me how long it'll take to get my EAD card since i file that application?

another quesition is : would u pls explain me how AP or RTD works?do I need to use them combine my former country's passport?..my purpose for this question is could i use AP or RTD travel abroad instead of original passport's function? After I apply for status adjustment(I-485),which document is properly for me to apply?AP or RTD?what's the difference between those two documents?
Thx alot:)

An EAD is not needed for asylees, but will make their lives a bit easier.

A RTD (RTD) is all that is needed to travel.

Visit INS website http://www.ins.usdoj.gov check INS Form I-9 "Employment Eligibility Verification" and you will see that your employer shouldn't be asking for especific documents. All you need to show is your driver's license and your unrestricted social security card.
Similarly, in the same website check form I-131 "Refugee Travel Document" you will find there and in other parts of INS website what you want to know.
Also, visit old discussions in this same portal. These two topics have been widely discussed before. You will find in there answers to all your questions. Good luck

thanx so much..:)

well...i c and i know how RTD works..
but i still curious about the AP's function...is that also can instead of a former country's passport during asylee's journey?

and is there any changes of policy for asylees be employed since 911 happened? 'cause that I-9 form edition is too late...
and obviously asylee and granted asylun could be found in I765 application form (catalog number: (a)(5)for granted asylum and (a)(3)for asylee and the filled application form should be sent to Neblask INS...i dont know what should i do..'cause probabely it will take me a long time to recive my EAD before i could be employed....really inconsistent...:(

Nothing has changed because 911 regarding employment for asylees, I-9 form is still valid. Again, I insist your employer shouldn't be asking for especific documents.
However; if you have RTD that would be enough to prove identity and employment eligibility, because RTD is a document in list A of Form I-9.
I he/she doesn't know about employment eligibility should check with INS your status, but not to ask for documents you don't need to show.
As for the AP, check INS website. Everything is very well explained in there
Good luck
