Many folks don't realize that assisting constituents with immigration matters is one of the routine functions of Congressional offices, which are located all over the USA. Each Congressional District has at least one such office.

On the bookcase you may see the thick binder, "INS HANDBOOK FOR CONGRESSIONAL CASEWORKERS."

Remember, Members of Congress win tons of votes when their staff, on the federal payroll, help constituents through a bureaucracy Congress created. DON'T FALL FOR THIS TRICK! Vote for candidates who want to simplify the process or open the borders altogether.

The INS was never underfunded. They just kept piling more and more regulations on themselves, creating bureaucracy, so victims would tell Congress to appropriate more money for more staff to handle the backlog. With more staff, the supervisors go up a grade in pay.

If people had gone out slaughtering Border Patrol agents in retaliation for INS delays, the agency would have cut the crap fast.

Like, if every time they "lose" a file and charge the person the fee all over again to start the process all over again, Freedom Fighters went out and slaughtered ten BP goons in retaliation, pretty soon INS would have gotten better control over its files.

Look, when somebody applies for a visa, all they'd have to do is simply issue it. They kept piling regulations on themselves and took their good, sweet time to complete all the paperwork "required" under those regulations.

Like, when people apply for a fiancee visa, all they'd have to do is issue the visa. It's not as if the couple was imposing the regulations and demanding they do a background check.

Look, you obviously have no clue. And stop patronizing me.
I have been through the process. And I contend that I know a lot more about it than you.
Ever heard of the possibility of fraud? Or of the term "marriage of convenience"? Check out the movie "Greencard" for an example.

They took 5 months to process my wife's K-1 visa, then they took their good, sweet time to process the so-called "green" card, in order to force her to pay again to renew the work permit.

As for fraud, ask them no questions and they'll tell no lies.

With all the hassles they impose on people, they have a Hell of a nerve to charge a fee for their "service".

They claim at the consulate in Santo Domingo that US citizens get paid $5000 to $10,000 to go through the motions of marrying a Dominican citizen, but looking around, I didn't see too many Dominican residents with that kind of money, so I think they're full of baloney.

You make the usual mistake: taking anecdotal evidence and using that to make allegations. I have seen this for years from anti-immigration people. This Dominican fraud issue is well documented in court cases.
So, the facts do not support your claims.

Even if 99 percent of Dominican applications were fraudulent, this would not be any excuse for delaying, even for one day, the application of somebody in the other one percent. If the only way to prevent such an unwarrantable delay is to approve all applications at once, then all applications must be approved at once. They have no right to take it out on innocent people.

The Federal Government has no authority under the U.S. Constitution to restrict immigration anyway.

<<If you think so, why don't you challenge it? Talk is cheap...

That is absurd. They could have sure used you back in 1941.
[compare: "If you're so sure the Japanese had no right to bomb Pearl harbor, why don't you sue the Japanese Government under their rules, in their courts with their judges?"]

It cracks me up that so many people can't just read the U.S. Constitution and determine what it says; they need the High Priests to read it for them and preach it to them, because they cannot think for themselves!

<<Why is it absurd? You claim that the immigration regulations are unconstitutional. The way to actually determine that is to file a lawsuit.

No, the way to determine it is to read the Constitution.

<<Another non sequitur.
I have read the constitution. I don't need you to interpret it for me. And your "interpretation" is wrong anyway.

What article and section do you imagine authorizes Congress to regulate immigration?

<<Put your money where your mouth is.

Waste my money suing the enemy in their own court?

Look, you fail to explain what article and section of the U.S. Constitution supposedly gives Congress power to regulate immigration.

Wading across a river is not "Commerce" with Canada or Mexico. Neither does it constitute "Naturalization". Those areas belong to Congress, according to the U.S. Constitution.

Congress has no authority to regulate immigration, plain and simple. Legal "scholars" simply gobble up whatever the courts vomit out, because it is their duty to advise their clients accordingly. It would be wrong for them to mislead their clients by telling them all about their rights if the government refuses to stop violating those rights.
