I am an American citizen, and my 6-month student visa has recently expired (July 10th). My visa says that I am allowed 1 extra Schengen transit, so I had planned to leave the country for a few days (go to london) and return on a regular tourist visa, thereby buying myself an extra 3 months.
But now that my real student visa has expired, I'm worried about problems I may face when trying to return to France as a tourist.
Here are my questions: if the border control between london/paris notices that I have an expired student visa (only by about 2 weeks though), will I not be allowed to return to Paris as a regular tourist?
Is it likely that this will be discovered? I'm taking the Eurostar, and I don't remember their passport control to be very stringent.
Could I possibly return to Paris after paying a fine?
