FP1 valid for 18 months?

Just got an email from my lawyer about my husband's FP2. The first FP was done in March 2003 and we haven't seen a FP2 notice yet. It's been 16 months.

According to my lawyer, FP is now valid for 18 months instead of 15 months..
If it is true, we should expect the FP2 notice in September 2004. On a second thought, I realized that I also got my FP2 notice (Feb 2004) exactly 18 months after FP1 (Aug 2002).

I wonder if the BCIS changed their FP policy recently... Anybody in the same situation here? Getting FP2 notice 18 months after FP1?

Thanks for your feedback.

Where did your lawyer get this? I doubt it as this is FBI's regulation. Per USCIS promises!, later in the year they will be able to store one's fingerprints so a second one would not be needed!
There are a lot of people who have been waiting for second FP well beyond the expiration date, even if it 18 months! I got mine for July 30 in Philly and the first one was in October 24, 2002.

My-oh-my...
I don't know where did my lawyer got this information. However, I do see the fact that there is a huge backlog for FP2... Guess there is not much we can do but wait... Hope your case will be approved soon after FP2. :)

Thanks!
