FP Validity: 15 months?

I am confused/frustrated by an answer from my lawyer.
My lawyer (hired by my company) said that there is no need to a 2nd FP because the only need for 2nd FP is for "adoption case"

As far as I know FP are good for only 15 months, right?
Is there anybody can direct me in finding the USCIS doc that says that or...similar help?

I am feeling double-screwed: by USCIS and now also by my lawyer.

Thanks

Fingerprints used to be valid for only 15 months. If you had them done recently, or are about to do them, then the USCIS now stores the FPs digitally so that in 15 months time you do not have to go and do them again. They just run the FBI check on the FPs they have stored.

This is the first I have heard of not having to do FP's if your case hasn't been adjudicated within 15 months. As far as I know your FP's expire in 15 months and 2nd FP's are 100% required thereafter. Check the other links in this forum to see what other people have to say.

Not true. I did my 2nd FP after 1st FP expired (after 15 months). Send enquiry about your case status, it may trigger 2nd FP. I have not done anything about my 2nd FP. The 2nd FP notice came itself after 1FP expiry. I did complete 2nd FP two weeks ago. It is not updated yet. If you wait some more time, probably you may get your 2nd FP as some people (on this forum) already got 2nd FP notices.

No FP expiry - as part of USCIS's ongoing changes

USCIS proposed recently (may be a month back or so) to keep finger prints for good. Earlier 15 months limit was imposed due to storage restrictions, and now since storage is easier they don't want any limit. However I don't think it became law yet. So, you need to get 2nd FP done.

Its not something you go and get done anyway. You need to wait until you get FP notice from USCIS, which they send whenever they touch your case. So, Doesn't matter if your lawyer says its needed or not. When USCIS asks you to go for it. You go for it. But your lawyer definitely seems to be ill-informed.
