FP - time period

I wanted to know what is the time period within which finger printing needs to be completed. (from the time the notice is sent)Going by the present trend, I am expecting my FP notice to arrive sometime between november and december.We are planning to go out of the country in December for a period of one month and I am dreading the possibility of missing the deadline if any.

Any info or experience will be appreciated.

Depending on the INS center, you will be given a window of 1 week about a month from the time you get the FP
notice. If you cannot get the FP done within that week, then you can get it done within a month of that week on any wednesday.
For eg :

If you get FP notice on Aug 1, you will be allocated to go to INS anyday between Aug31 and Sept 7.
If you cannot get it done in that period, then you can go on any Wednesday until Sept 29th.
If you cannot get it done by then, INS assume you are no longer interested in pursuing the GC.

My suggestion :

Go on the first Wednesday after you get the notice and request the your favorite INS-ASC officers.
You may get lucky.
