FP reschedule

Hi,

I received my FP notice 3 weeks back and have an appointment for next week.
But the caveat is that I don\'t have the passport(H1 revalidation) and have already booked my ticket to India in Oct.

I need to postpone this FP till Jan\' 2003.

My FP notice doesn\'t say anything about postponing but says that if the FP is not done by end of Sep\'02 then my application is abandoned.

I called INS to reschedule and the person said that if you are not able to meet the appointment date, then reapply for 485.

Pls advise on how to go about rescheduling......

Past experience, passport not required for FP....

From my past experience, I did not require my passport for FP. I walked in a week earlier for my FP and all they asked me was for identification along with the FP notice. I used my EAD card for id and my wife used her Driver\'s License. That\'s it. We gave our FP and walked out. We did have our passport in our folder, but never removed it. Try it out this weekend. We did this on a saturday.

Also, if they ask you for it, you can speak to the supervisor and show him copies of your passport and explain the situation. They were pretty helpfull to some of the folks who had issues simillar to yours (missing documents, etc.) during our FP.
