FP rejected twice question

For pending N-400 FP were rejected twice as unclassified. At the interview the immigration officer asked for police certificates from all places we'd lived at within 30 days of the interview.

We provided the certificates by dropping them with an IO at reception desk at the USCIS office.

Now, no word from USCIS for over 4 weeks. We called the 800 number but the IO said app "pending". No other information.

Any one gone through this? any suggestions on what to do?
Thanks.

I went through the EXACT same thing. My prints were rejected twice, but I wasn't aware of it not going through the second time until my interview. The IO told me that I needed a police clearance before I could be approved. Yes, I did wait as you are doing. My approval finally came 3 weeks of my interview. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

If you don't hear from USCIS 120 days, you then set up the INFOPASS appointment, or contact one of your local Congress representative or Senator.

I have my two sets of FP unreadable but no RFE for police clearance certificate. What is this clearance formally called? Can I have it ready in anticipation of the interview to enable same day approval and oath if possible (whenever the interview is scheduled)....

Thanks. From what the IO told us if FPs are unreadable they do not normally send an RFE. Give a letter at the interview.

We are still waiting.

It may be called different things depending on local police. Should be
county police ot township police or whatever?

You can go to your local police (township, municipal.city, county, or even state) for such things.

But I am surprised USCIS did not request it before the interview.

I WAS surprised when the IO told me my prints didn't go through. I figured I wouldn't be sitting there being interviewed unless my prints went through, right? Yes, it would have been very helpful if they had sent me a notice to have a police clearance ready at the interview. I drove to the Norwalk sheriff's station the day after my interview and had it done in an hour (for $42). So it really didn't delay my case.

**To COMPUSER1973** I would wait to see if USCIS needs the police clearance. Don't go and spend the time and money to get one when you're not sure if you'll need it.

I think Fairfax County VA charges only $10 - http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/services/records-check.htm - criminal records check - which is what I assume it is.... it has been a long wait as is - so might as well give it a shot :) I will call to confirm though....

$10 isn't so bad. Sure, it doesn't hurt to be prepared. In my case the police clearance is a letter stating that no criminal record was found. I'm not sure if the FBI does a name check also, especially in my case because my prints weren't readable.

I actually had to do the homework in finding out who actually does this letter. The IO told me to go to my local police station to get this done, but he was wrong. Police (lapd) only does letters for people for adoption or travel, not for citizenship or immigration purposes.

I'm just happy this will be over soon. Can't wait to wave that little flag! :)
