FP notices for my children

Hi,

Today, I have received FP Notices I-797C for my children – son (7 years old) and daughter (6 years old). Unfortunately they are visiting India on a summer vacation. So can some one help me following questions?

1) Do they need finger printing?
2) If they do then how long can the date be extended? Given date is 07/05 and they are coming back to US on 07/27.
3) If they should not be getting finger printing then should I contact them? If I should then is it a good idea to give them a call or write them a letter or an email?
4) Or should I make my lawyer contact USCIS?

If you miss the appoinment date then you can go any following wednesday before the expiration date(it will be given in the notice). You can always call 1-800 number and findout if you have any questions. Recently we have completed finger printing for my daughter(7 years).

From your message, I understand that they are taking finger printing of children younger than 12 years and it is not a mistake.

Also, I will call USCIS and find out more for extension beyond next Wednesday or Saturday.
 
I have just talked to USCIS. Person I talked to was very nice and willing to help. He mentioned that even though letter I have received says that it is "Fingerprint Notification", it is just biometrics. Meaning USCIS takes picutres of my children and make them sign.

No finger prints are taken for child younger than 14.

He also said that I should not send original notice back to them but I should send them a copy.

Additionally, next date for appointment would be in month plus time period so don't reschedule if not needed and if you really need it then I may have to wait for few more months.

out of curiosity, did you ask him if your children can go to US consulate in India for biometrics , i have a similar situation where my son is in india
and we received his FP letter and my attorney says that i should either reschedule or call him back for FP
 
They will take digital picture and Fingerprint of index finger if you have finger print code=2 on your notice.
