FP messed up, Now What?

My FP has been done three months back but the AVM still does not say that my processing has been resumed. When I called INS Vermont, they said they messed up my FP, I have to redo it, and they are not sure when they are going to mail me the next FP notice. It may take another two months. Any of you guys faced similar problem? My other question is that can I go directly to my local INS office, get my FP done without any notice, will they do that?
Will this delay my whole I-485 processing time?

Hi,

You can give FP only after getting the notice. Some centers allow you to walk in before the scheduled date and give your finger prints. The AVM should change immediately after you give FP second time.
