FP expired

Folks,

If you fingerprints are over 18 month old (or is it 15 month old?) what happens?
Does USCIS send you a FP notice automatically after a date when you FP expired?
Should FP be valid up to the Oath date or only up to the decision making date?

Sincerely,
Zaraza

make an infopass and ask them about the FP. They may let you take it on the spot...

Make sure your DO has the updated address. FP is only good for 15 months...

Is your case still pending? Or is it your husband's?

The fingerprints are only valid for 15 months, like publicus said, but i would like to add that fingerprints should be valid up to the time of taking a decision on the case. After that, if they expire at the time of oath, it's ok!

My husband's :)
we got the confirmation of the "background checks completed" from our Senator's office over the phone (in early to mid-December), but 2 week later USCIS send an answer to our letter on the status with "background checks pending" BS. We could not get the confirmation letter from the Senator's office due to everyone's being out for the Holidays. Today I am trying to reach the office by the phone, but no luck so far. While all that was going on, his FP expired on 12/15 and he did not get any notices for the renewal. It's a problem for us to set an INFOpass because he is constantly away from home due to his new job :(

You can act as his attorney. Ask him to sign a consent to release information to you (his wife) and go for him. Post the reasons why he can't show up personally...Remember, when the FBI completes the name check, they post it in a central database system that CIS have to access. It takes about 15 days for the info to get updated on the central system, but CIS has to check it and update the file. Make a copy of Senator's letter and send it to the interviewing officer and to her supervisor. Take a copy to the Inforpass and ask them to add it to the file.

It seems like your husband's case is in her final stages, a little attention will bring the needed closure and will complete your family's happiness.

You are such a good wife, I like that, and I respect you very much.:)

Good luck...

Publicus, thank you for this info, I actually thought that FBI sends a physical paper file or such to USCIS and that triggers the USCIS action, but if I understand you correctly, it is not so and USCIS needs to check his record in the central system. Do you know what triggers USCIS to get the record checked? A letter from FBI? Or do they just check it periodically as time permits :)?

It is a great idea; I'll do just that, probably just need the notary stamp on such paper, right?

Any idea how to find out who is the supervisor’s name? Through InfoPass?

Publicus, I wish you are right, for some reasons the situation affects every side of our life and makes our whole family miserable. Thank you for your kind words :), I wish yourself the best in your journey.

For the infopass, yeah it will be good to get the consent letter notorized. Put his identifying info on the letter(i.e. A#, SSN, ID card # etc..)

You can get the name of the supervisor at the infopass appointment or research the forums for your DO, maybe someone posted it. You can also address the letter to:

Attention: Supervisor of Naturalization Division.

Trust me, you will hear something good very soon. I don't want to sound like Johnny Cash here as I don't have psychic powers :D (just kidding) but it looks like your husband's case has been resolved. Have the Congressman's office call CIS and follow up with them...

Good luck
