FP check causes holdup?

Initially I had assumed the Name check and the FP check to be done by the FBI together. But reading various posting, it is apparent they are done seperately

Almost all posting seem to talk about name check being the big problem that holds up processing. But I have not come across postings that complain about the FP check delay causing the holdup. Is that correct or FP checks can cause as much grief?

FP check goes smooth as butter. The only problem with FP that happens to a few people is when their FP gets rejected because of traits in their FP that makes it ineligible. Those people could apply for FP waiver.

Checking if FP is legible

Thanks for such a speedy response!
1. I hoping FP does not delay my case because of my concern of FP not being legible for one hand. I will be sending my N400 another few weeks. So, I was wondering if there are any ideas to find that out earlier. Get a set of FP from a local police station, send it to FBI to have a FP check just like that?

2. I presume the status check for FP has to be done seperately from the Name Check?

I do not know a way of ensuring that the FP is ligible. As they say, FP is partly scientific process and partly judgement call. Most FPs get through without ligibility problems.

FP and name check are seperate process all the way through. The only place it comes together is at the DO, when the officer interviews you for adjudication.

Do we mail the FP card?

Thanks!

As for the N400 process, does one have the FP done at the designated center and then mail the FP card in? Or does the center electronically transmit it over to the FBI?

the FP computers are linked to FBI's processing facility. Its done automatically. For most of us the checks are completed the same day

Check FP status a few days later?

So, from your reply I presume the FPs are electronically sent from the fingerprinting location.

So you recommend to check the FP status a few days after the FP was done?

Go in for the FP appointment, give your fingerprint and relax. You don't need to do anything after that. If your fingerprint were not legible, they will contact to go in for another FP appointment. If you failed FP, or if your FP matches some FP in their "wanted persons" database, you will likely law enforecement at your door. If you did not "pass" the FP check for trivial reasons, you will most likely be told that during your interview. All things considered, the possibility of anything going wrong with FP is very very minimal. That is the last thing you need to worry about. Remember the keyword... Relax.
