FP and Name Check

What is the relationship between FP and Name check? When name check is done? If the online message says the FP result was received and the process of ... resumed, does it mean that name check was done? How do I know if name check is done? Thanks.
 
Namecheck and FP are done by FBI but are unrelated. USCIS will request for the name check,when they are receiving the I485 application.It can take months to get processed.

You can send an email to FBI to know the status. It will take 1-2 months for them to respond. Even if you haven't done FP, you can check for the Name Check Status.

I did my FP in Sep 28th. My name check was completed in May 2004 and my spouse's Name Check was done in Decemebr 2003.

FP received status does not mean NAme check is done. In some cases, even before FP, Name Check would have been done.
