Format of Non-availability Letter for BC - Help please

Dear All,

Any help is sincerely appreciated.

As a response to the RFE for my husband's I-485, we have to submit a letter from a civic authority in India stating that my husband's Birth Certificate is not available.

Has anyone had to get a similar letter for the same reason? Can anyone provide a format of such a letter or an example letter that they may have used. Also, any helpful suggestions are appreciated.

Hi,
I had checked with my attorney for the same and he told me that there is no specific format for this document. I found some samples on Path2Usa.com, following is the one that I have used for my case. I have just filed my 140/485 and I have no idea whether it will accepted by NSC. I got the following text printed and signed on the official letterhead from India.

CERTIFICATE OF NON AVAILABILITY

This is to certify that the birth record of person Mr. AAAA B CCCCCC born to Mr. A B C and Smt. X YZ on June 1st, 1973 is not found in our records. We have searched the records between 1970 and 1975. During that period the registration of birth was not mandatory.
