Formalities after GC

My 485 approved last week and I received the plastic card too. Now I'm not sure what are the next steps like :

1. Should I go to Social Security office for any change in my SS records? Like providing the A# etc.

2. Do I need to get my passport stamps? If so, would I get the notice from USCIS on this or do I need to go my own?

3. I'm hoping I don't need to get finger printing done again as I received the card. Please advice if it is required.

Waiting for your response

Of course I'm waiting for your response but my understanding for these issues are:

1. Topic http://boards.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=216734 also says about the same thing. There has to be something about SSN update. Your response will be appreciated.

2. Guessing that we don't need to go for passport stamping as already mentioned by someone.

3. VSC / NSC sends the notice if FP required. In my case, I didn't get the FP notice and got the GC that means I don't need FP.

Above are my guesses and I would appreciate any light on these questions. THANKS :D

1. Yes. Just went to SSN office to get SSN for spouse & officer said that everytime your status changes legally you need to update them.. And I guess you need to update all banks and mortgage/CC companies too.

2 and 3. Not needed as you already got the card..

enjoy your GC.. :)

Well I'm not sure you necessarily need to update them that your a GC holder now and not on visa.. Don't know whether it would make a difference.. but still I'd go ahead and update.

Social Security Update

I was reading on the website about the changes in Social Security:

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/10002.html

What if my immigration status or citizenship changed?

If your immigration status changed or you became a U.S. citizen, you should tell Social Security so your records can be updated. To get your immigration status or citizenship corrected, you need to show documents that prove your new status or citizenship. Only certain documents can be accepted as proof of citizenship for new and replacement cards. These include your U.S. passport, a Certificate of Naturalization or a Certificate of Citizenship. If you are not a U.S. citizen, Social Security will ask to see your current immigration documents

Requested for Updated SSN card

I went to SS office and finally requested for updated SSN card. They will send it within two weeks.
