form i864 part 6 item5 and item6c confusion

The government instruction says to enter part 6 item 5 (individual income) into 6 c.
Taken directly from the instruction-"This section is used to determine the sponsor's household income. Take your annual individual income from Item Number 5. and enter it on Item Number 6.c."
Then part 10 says to add up "all lines from 5, 6.c, 7.c, 8.c, and 9.c."
My confusion is, aren't you adding your own income twice? Is this an instructional error that I should just ignore or is this one of those just follow instruction and not logic thing?
Please advice, thank you!

6.c is for Persion 1, not your, but someone else in your household. Put his/her income here if any.

5 is for your income.

There is an off-by-one error in the instructions. It seems there was an extra item in between 5 and 6 where you write your information when the person wrote the instructions, but was removed in the final form. The "Item Number 6" that the instructions refer to doesn't exist. And when the instructions say "Item Number 7 - 10", they mean "Item Number 6 - 9", respectively (so for example if you're using your spouse's income, they would go in Item Number 6).

that's what i figured, this must have confused so so many people who were trying to follow instructions. all that fed money spent on people producing these forms and they get something this important wrong ...

The form I-864 is very clear saying "Person 1, then item 6". I did not read the instructions.
