Form I-131 filing questions

Hi,

I am filing form I-131 along with I-485. I am currently in the US on a H1B and am married to a green card holder and we are filing I-485 under the F2A category.

Form I-131 has the following questions:

Date of intended departure
Duration of trip
Purpose of trip

Some people suggested that I can put Unknown for the Date of intended departure and the duration and I do not need to fill in the purpose of the trip. Is that correct? Should I be filling in something different in the form?

For "Date of intended departure" and "Duration of trip" you can just put Unknown. "Purpose of trip" is on a part of the form that is skipped for Advance Parole, so if you are seeing that you are looking at the wrong part of the form.
 
Ah! You are right newacct.
What I should have asked is what do I put in for the circumstances that warrant issuance of advance parole. What should I fill in for these? I don't know right know why would I need to travel.

When you are filing I-485, you do not need to include an explanation.
