Hi All,

This is bit weird and now worrying me:(

We (My wife and me) got GC (Employment based) in 2001. After getting GC we moved 3 times.

Place A (Got GC) (Texas)
Place B = Stayed for a 1 year (Texas)
Place C = Stayed 10-15 days (max.) While lease on Place B was still active.
(Virginia)
Place D = Current residence, staying for 3 years.(Virginia)

Note Place C and D are in the same complex. Originally we moved to one bedroom apt in Place C as my wife got the new job in Virginia. I stayed back to move the furniture etc. We signed the lease for Place C for 6 months but on 10-12th day, we realized apt is too small and noisy so we moved to better and bigger apartment in the same complex.
During this time, we had already requested address change with credit card companies. This address is being reported on credit reports but I have managed to remove them from out credit histories.

Now here is the problem...

1> During all this time, we never filled AR-11. So I contacted reputed lawyer in DC and immediately filled the AR-11.

I reported change of address from....

Place A to Place B
Place B to Place D (Note that Place C is not reported)

2> During filling N-400, I did not reported Place C stay as it was less then 10-15 days. In fact, we moved our furniture directly from Place B to Place D.
We consulted lawyer and were informed, it should be fine .

Now, as my PD date is approaching fast, I am worried  as I did not mentioned my Place C address on N-400 form.

Questions...

- Is there anyway, I can file the changes in the N-400 address section? Should I even do this at this point as my FP is already done and expecting IL by October’07? Should I just wait and explain to officer, if asked upon?

- Note that I will have to file AR-11 form for a move from Place B to Place C and Place C to Place D. This will also mean that my previously filled AR-11 for a move from Place B to Place D will be wrong information i.e. lying to USCIS.

- Has there ever been a case where citizenship was denied on an account fo similar kind of mistakes?

Apart from this mistake, all other information is correct on N-400.

I apologized for lengthy email.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I think you are worrying too much

You should be ok and I think you are worrying unnecessarily, I do not think the 15 days stay matters, if you are still worried, you have two options:

Do not worry and just prepare to mention it if the topic of addresses comes up during the interview
OR
You can have an updated N-400 application with details of Address C that you can give to the IO during the interview

I do not think the AR-11 issue will come up, if it does come up , you can say that you did not think you need to file for such a short stay or you can say I do not remember if I filed it or not.

Don't worry. To me, "Residence" is an address that you'd put on your dirvers license or some place where you'd point a magazine subscription to. Staying 2 weeks somewhere doesn't meet that. I've stayed in hotels longer than that!

Sounds to me like Place C was just something temporary - you wouldn't list a hotel address on your N-400, so no need to list this.

mant0478, flydog and boatbod

I agree 100% with all mant0478, flydog and boatbod. I was going to write the samething but they said it. I am a consultant and there were times when I had to stay in hotels on temporary basis. No big deal. You're ok :)

Thx everyone for suggestions! Definately makes one feel better.

I was confused 'cause I signed the lease and moved to different apt within the same complex in 15 days. I could not find and legal definition of residence wrt N-400.
These address (Address C) was reported on credit history(offcourse, I have removed it now). I had to file address change with USPS and credit card companies for Address C when I moved to Address C.

You guys are right, I may be just worrying too much as time for ID is coming closer:)

They are mostly interested about where you lived in terms of city, not apartment number. They are trying to build a "history" of you for the various checks, and to make sure your residences, work, etc all line up (well, I think they are).
