Foreclosure affect on Green card - please help

I am currently in the process of selling my home in California through short sale (pre-foreclosure) which may likely result in the foreclose of home by the lender.

My labor certification is currently being processed. How does having a short sale or foreclosure affect in getting green card. Will my application be denied at I1-140 or I-485 stages ?

I think really unlikely. Our lawyer was concerned only about us having maintained legal status all the time. Never any questions about credit history, credit reports, home ownership, etc. were asked.
