I AM Canadian. I have been employed in the US for 4 years on TN for 1.5 years and H1B1 since then. I have a I-140 aproved about 2 years ago. I am on about day 600 of I-485. I was forced to resign my position on Aug 1st. We are on EAD's. I have heard that as long as my I-485 is pending, I am ok. I have also heard that I only have 2-4 weeks to find something as a "Grace period". I also heard that I am toast as soon as I resign. MAN!!!! Please shed some light on this!!!

Do I need to grab what job I can to keep going or do I have some time to pick the best job?? What forms do I need?

HELP!!!!!!!

as far as I understand this, you can probably continue search for job before CIS sends you a RFE to verify employment or before your employer withdraw your I-140. If you have found a related job, you can just work for that company using EAD. Of course, getting a job asap is the best route.

I-140 won't be revolked.

I should clarify that my employer said they would put my I-140 in a safe place until I port it.

well, in that case, you are in better shape. You can search your ideal job before RFE if there is one. Even if you receive RFE, you will have 80 days to answer it. GC is based on prospective employment so that as long as you can find a job in similar area, you should be fine. You are not going to be out of status since your 485 is pending and you can work with EAD card.
