For those who got Request for Evidence (RFE)s...

may I know what evidence they look for? I just thought I'd make a separate thread about it since most people are curious as to what type of RFEs they send.

It'll be helpful to let us know the following:

-What document/form needed the RFE
-What evidence did they request
-any other information related to it.

I havent received any RFEs yet but from my understanding they can come at anytime during the process. So far, I haven't seen any reason for me to get an RFE but people at uscis could misplace/misread documents so who knows :)

Thanks!

Great thread! I am also worried about getting a RFE and that will great to know what they usually ask.

I think this is a great thread which will be very helpful to current and future immigrants who will file paperworks with USCIS. Anyone who has had received any RFE, should post here, even though they are through with immigration. This way people would know what documents should be submitted along with the application to avoid receiving any RFE. I'm sure if people would read all the reasons/missing documents, they will be able to avoid any RFE.

I'm going to make this thread sticky, but would be willing to merge it with other appropriate thread. I don't have time now to see which thread is appropriate for this one to be merged, and I don't even know if there is any sticky thread is appropriate for this to merge, but if any moderator could see any other sticky thread closer to this one, they can merge it with that. It's just I don't have time right now to see which one.

Received RFE for copies of tax returns from I-864 sponsor for the most recent (2007) year. Request was for initial evidence, which meant USCIS thought I missed something.

Responded with copies of tax returns and all 1099/w2's per the I-864 instructions for the most recent year only. This was the same as submitted originally.

USCIS appears to have approved this as the case continued processing and I got my EAD. I can only assume that part of the original submission was lost.

Thanks for stickying this thread Johnny.

This has been a similar case with my friend. But for her, they asked for some financial document between her and her husband which she already submitted. She said that she submitted the same documents and her case went resumed (she has her GC now). So, I am not sure why this happens.

It is a bit disappointing because you know all along that you have submitted the right documents and the case was slightly delayed because someone misplaced the papers. I hope it doesn't happen too often.

This is so common for USCIS to send RFEs for documents which are already submitted along with the application. This board and other immigration sites out there are full of the stories on this fact. I don't know why it's happenning, but there is no doubt in mind that it's because of incompetency of USCIS workers who don't look enough in the applications to find those documents...unless USCIS is doing this just to delay the applications for few more days....I think people should bring this to their attention by writing to USCIS Director, Secy. of Homeland Security, OBM guy or whoever s/he is...If you guys won't raise a voice, nobody would know what's going on there....
