For those waiting for Name Check

I was in the same boat. I applied in NYC in July 02 and was interviewed in Feb 04. I did get my fingerprinting done in April 04.
At the time of interview I was told that my name-check is pending.
I waited for a month.
Then I (my spouse who sponsered me ) sent letters to Senators. Then we found a good Congresswoman. We went to her office. Sent her email explaining why we need to get the name-check done faster. I also sent a fax to FBI to check if they have something on me. I received letter in 3 days saying they have no record of me ( which is good).
My wife sent very strong letters reminding the congresswoman that we voted for her and that we have strong community . We also said that if you can not help us who can . After all we elected you to represent us.

Meanwhile, we contact state senator also.

You have to keep calling them to the point of annoyance. Don't worry, Don't feel shy . Send letters to every political person you know . And be consitent -be pain and at the end it will work
I got my FBI name check done in April 8th and May 9th I received myGreen card.

Hope this helps

request for info

Hello Wating4Gc,

I had my interview in April 05 and I was told that I will get my Gc in the mail within 3 weeks...well, now - 7 weeks later, there is still no word from them. And having been waiting for more than 3 years now, I am afraid that my case is stuck somewhere again...
I see that you applied in NY too. If it is not too much to ask for, can you please give me the contact info and the names of the people that you "bothered" :D . And also - do you have copies of the letters that you sent? I appologize if I am going too far with my requests, but I was sponsored by my husband, who is american, and lives by the saying: Those who wait, are the ones who get. Every time I asked him to give then a call, or send them a letter, he told me to just wait. I don't want to wait, I know he wouldn't help me in bothering anyone and I don't know what exactly I should say in the letter. Well, I know, just don't think I'll have the patience to say it politely....It is very hard for him to understand why is it a big deal to be "stuck" in the States and not be able to go see your family for 5 years now....
I would really appreciate if you send me / or post the info.
Thanks in advance.
Sharon

Hello.
I have an Infopass appoitment next week. I didn't here from them at all since my interview - no welcome letter, no update on the website..nothing...If they tell me my case is pending FBI check, I want to be ready for the next step.
I really, really got tired of waiting.
:(
