Unite Families & American Families United have together organized a
rally (on May 14, 2006) to be followed by a lobbyday (on May 15, 2006)
in Washington DC. These are to bring to the attention of lawmakers in
capitol Hill, the required legislative changes for faster reunification of
nuclear family members of legal permanent residents and american citizens.
As many of you may be aware of, it takes more than 5 years on the average
for the spouse and minor children of a LPR to immigrate to the US. During
those 5 years they are not allowed to enter US even on a temporary visit.
The backlog is getting worse in the last few months and the recent VISA
bulletin says that there will be retrogression for F2A category in the
coming months which means it can get delayed even further.
This situation *WILL NOT* get better without a legislative change but will
get only worse. And, legislative change *WILL NOT* happen if the affected
persons don't come out and let the law makers know about this problem.
Unfortunately many dont' do and instead choose to suffer silently
which is not going to change the situation.
Now is the time to act. There is a high possibility that CONGRESS will
pass a immigration reform bill in the next few weeks/months. However, this
issue (reunification of **NUCLEAR FAMILIES**) has not caught
attention(atleast not enough) of lawmakers yet and at the moment it is
* NOT ADDRESSED * in any of the major bills.. This will be a non
controversial law change and if it is made a part of the reform bill
it will PASS, so we should make every effort to bring it to the
attention of law makers.
Please, participate in the rally/lobby day to have your voices heard.
** NEXT FEW WEEKS WILL BE VERY CRUCIAL AND PLEASE TRY AND ATTEND THE
RALLY/LOBBY DAY **. If we dont't no one else will speak for us and this
problem will not go away by itself.
If you have any questions regarding participating in the rally/lobby day
please, send them to the following email-ID:
