For Infopass, does one have to be in the respective USCIS office's region?

Hi,

I filed my I-485 in TSC last year and recently moved into the VSC region. Recently, I went for Infopass as my namecheck has been stuck for 1 year+. The lady just said that since I am not in the TSC region, she had no access to my information...

Is that true? That one needs to be in the respective service center area - geographic states - to do Infopass?

Yep, I understand that they verify your state residence but - how come they do not have access to any information?

Or should I ask them to transfer my case to VSC so that I can get some info on Infopass?

I see lot of cases getting transferrred from CSC to TSC....does that mean, that if somebody stays in California and applied in CSC originally - they would have to move to the TSC region states to get any info via Infopass?

Sorry dude I don't have any idea about Transferring case.

I don't think you need to live in the region supported by the service center that has your application. My application was filed with VSC, but I live in CA. I had no problems in making an infopass appointment in CA. The officer was able to see my record and told me I was stuck in name check.
