If you have gone to the local office to get a iEAD after your application was overdue for 90+ days and you were told that it is 'on hold' pending the I140 ajudication this might be of interest to you:
They might lift the hold and still not process your EAD. (It just remains somewhere in the stack). In my case the hold had been lifted in february (I140 still pending), but they had never issued the EAD.
Now when we went back two weeks ago, the IIO made a call to VSC and they told him that they would pull the case and that we should give them two more weeks to process the application. He couldn't issue an iEAD. Now in the past two weeks no EAD has arrived and nothing has happened on the online status except for a LUD change on the EAD.
Today we went back and everything went through smoothly, after 1 hour we walked out of the sub-office with an 8month iEAD.
What do we learn:
If you were denied an iEAD at the local office bc of a 'hold' on your EAD application. Be sure to go back every month or so and try it again. You might just be lucky.
