I asked INS and they said it may need 12 months to 24 months to file I-102 for the replacemnt. what i am thinking is if INS doesn\'t need to see the original I-94, I will not apply for the replacemnt. Do you think there will be some problem? thank you

No problem.

When you go for passport stamping after the I-485 approval, tell them your I-94 is lost and submit I-94 photocopy.
