Follow to join

Is it possible (/ok) to check follow to join on the form i.e. Primary applicant is planning to come first and dependents following a week or two after, But then after Interview, decided to return all together with primary applicant?

Is Coming all together is better option than follow to join? (I mean Does Follow to join has any down side, or risk GC process wise?

Irrespective of what you stated in the DS 230 forms it is
permitted to alter your travel plans.

Only stipulation is that the dependents should either come along
with the main applicant or at a later date. They cannot enter
US before the main applicant.

Each is given their VISA packets seperately.
