Guys has anyone have any info on following to join. Like if 485 is pending EB category. If one gets married before approval can spouse be added to the case as dependant? If spouse is here already...say on F1 can they do COS? Finally, does the spouse have to go through the 140 process?

If u are married before ur 485 got approved
AND
1. Ur spouse is IN US - u can add spouse as dependent to the pending 485 application.
U have to file a 485 for spouse - no 140.
2. Ur spouse is OUTSIDE US - u have to go for follow-to-join.
 
If u are married before your 485 got approved

1. If spouse is already in USA then she/he can be added to your 485 application as derivative.
2. If spouse is outside USA
a. you have valid H1 then he/she can come on H4 and once he/she is here you can file 485 for him/her.
b. If you don't have valid H1 then she/he will have to go through CP.
 
I have the same case as urs. I was in US and my husbands 485 was pending in last stage. We got married here and he filed for my EAD and 485. His GC was then approved after a month and I was called for Finger Printing at the same time.

Although I got my EAD after 4 months for filing, my 485 is still not approved. I have been waiting for my GC since 16 months.

It would be better that U file for her GC before ur case has approved. It will be much easier to add her name now than after ur approval.

Yeah, the criticle points are:

1. Marriage has to happen before 485 approval
2. If your spouse is in the US,
a. Get legally married here and wait till you get AP for her, before you go to bahamas for your honeymoon ..
b. OR USe your H-1 if that is valid during your abroad trip
