Follow-to-join for spouse

Hello All

I am doing follow-to-join to my spouse. I got my GC approved and I got married one month b4 my approval. My wife is still in India. I am going for "follow-to-join" for her to bring her to the US. For that I am filing I-824@CSC. I am told by my attorney that once I-824 has been approved she can walk in to the consulate and file DS-230 Forms with medical reports , Police verficiation etc and that should be it. She is also telling that the application does not to go to the NVC. Does anyone know about this? or has anyone done "follow-to-join" please help me.

Yes You can do!

Reqd docs are:

Copy of passports of both
Birth cert of spouse
Copy of your approval (if you have one)
P3
Marriage certificate

Hi,

I myself wen thought his process recently. Yes your attorney is right in saying that you dont have to go through NVC. But once your 824 is approved in India you cannot walk into the consulate. Only US citizen can walk in. Once your 824 is approved INS will send a cable message to the consulate to create a case number and to genereate Packet 3. Consulate will then send packet 3 to your spouse local address. From then on its a reagular CP process.
