Hello folks

Sheila Jackson (congresswoman) is a pro immigrant. Has anyone from the Houston area contacted her office about the delays and asked her office to get a reply for us from the TSC/CIS director about the backlog reduction.

If not please use this sample and correspond or visit her office to give the petition.

Yes it is Shiela Jackson Lee. You can just take the petition and visit her office and talk to the person responsible for immigration and hand over the petition. Looks like there are three offices for the congresswoman in Houston. So probably it is best to find out which office has the person who takes care of immigration stuff and then go to that office.

I had called her office three weeks ago to find out if they had a townhall meeting. Looks like there is nothing scheduled for this month and the next month.

On the bottom of this page you will see the addresses of her office

Re: reply

Quick question. My case got transferred to Houston local office May 03. My RD is 11/2001 from VSC. I dunno if they would handle cases that are transferred to the local office.

Dear Madam:

Attached is a petition that has been signed by several thousand folks who are waiting endlessly for their I-485 approvals. The petition and the list of people who have signed it is available online at
http://www.immigration.com/common/rsk/petition_I485.html

The signature section of the petition would give you a very good idea about the hardships faced by us.

We hard working, tax paying and law abiding legal immigrants who make a difference in the community, request your help to reduce this enormous and growing processing delay by USCIS towards thousands of legal immigrants to less than six months. A snap shot of the astounding backlog crisis can be found at the USCIS Website at
http://uscis.gov/graphics/shared/aboutus/statistics/msrsep03/BENEFIT.HTM

As an example I have been a legal and law abiding person residing in the US for the past the past xx years. I started the Green card process xx years ago. I started the employment based I-485 process more than xx years ago. With the I-485 processing slowing down considerably at TSC (TSC has processed two months worth of 485’s in the past year) I am not sure if I will get approved anytime soon.

This excessive delay has a huge impact on my life. xxxxxx reason

I would like to work with your office in requesting a reply from the TSC or USCIS director on getting a plan for reducing these backlogs. I will be passing the information provided by your office to the thousands of I-485 applicants. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely
