What is the benefit of doing FOIPA and how do I do it? I saw threads from other people in the forum doing it.

There is no real benefit of doing FOIPA. FOIPA only checks "main files" the FBI has on you. The name check also involves "reference files". The only help having an FOIPA is if you do get stuck in name check (which is almost 32% or nearly 1 in 3!) then when you write to senators etc, the fact that you are not in any main file records of FBI gives the senator that much more confidence to get involved. If some one had a main file entry no senator will feel comfortable asking the USCIS or FBI to expedite the case. I filed an FOIPA too, just in case..!
