I had submitted a FOIA request around first week of Oct 2005 to get the details of my labor certification from the National Record Center. After about 4 weeks, I received a letter stating the control number for my case and also stating that my request was simple and would be processed soon. Sometime around Dec, I called and asked for the status of my case. I was told that it was taking more than 8-9 months to respond to any FOIA request and that there were more than 74,000 pending FOIA request awaiting response.
8-9 months for a FOIA request. Now that's really pathetic! I still can't beleive it! Guys, please advice. Have anyone been in this situation lately and found a way out?
