Flying on Kuwait Airways.

Friends:

I need some information. I know this is not the place to ask for such information, but hope moderator will allow it to remain on this portal for just one day. :)

I am planning to fly to New Delhi thru Kuwait Airways and back to USA in Dec 2004. I would appreciate if someone who has been thru that sector can share some information. My travel agent says - I will get hotel accomodation arranged by Airlines in Kuwait for 20 hours while on my journey back to USA. What sort of hotel is that? How expensive is food there? Can we get some veggie stuff too?

Other thing that is in my mind is how good place is Kuwait even for a 3 hour transit? In other words is it safe to travel thru Kuwait?

And last but not the least - anything that you feel one should know while travelling Kuwait/Mid East(I have never done it before - been thry Europe only). Feel free to guide me. Some people told me that Burka is must in mid-east and that you will be waked up for prayer during flight. I do not believe it but just wanted to confirm. (I know Brunei Airline does it.).

Moderator - TIA.

Last year I travelled to U.S via Dubai. I guess the same procedure applies for Kuwait too

You have to collect your Hotel accomodation(it will be atleast a 4 star hotel) and Transit Visa voucher at the time of boarding in India
Once you land in Kuawait, there will be a shuttle to pick you up at the airport.
After you check in at the hotel, they will give you Lunch\Dinner\Breakfast vouchers which you can use only at the Hotel's Restaurant . The restaurant will have veggie food as part of their buffet, if not you can request some veggie food. Even otherwise, Indian food is 'cheap' in Gulf.

Happy Journey..

No such rumors are true...

3 years back my wife travelled to USA via Bahrain (UAE) and London on Indian Airlines and British Airways. She missed her connecting flight out of bahrain so had to stay at a Bahrain hotel for one night. Believe me, I was very tensed here in USA thinking about all that is going on in your mind right now. However none of it was true. My wife was quite comfortable in the hotel and was with other fellow passengers. The place was safe and friendly according to her. And I am sure she did not have to wear burka or was woken up for prayers anytime. The food is mostly non-veg however you can get fruits, some veg. stuff and spend your day well. Kuwait is much more advanced than rest of the gulf so rest easy, you will have no problems.

All my relatives have been travelling through Kuwait on Kuwait airways and always had to stay in Kuwait for one night and never had any problems. Its just like US, believe me so go ahead with your journey without any preconcieved notions about that place.

ALL,

What are all these messages here in this part of the FORUM.
(MY wife was not asked to wear burka or ...) Please keep this conversation on private chat..
If you guys need to fly by some airlines ask the damn travel agent and check with the embasssy..

DISCUSS 140 and 485 situations..Please discuss more serious issues rather burka issues..

bear with me
bye

I have used Kuwait Airways sometime back.
Overall the experience is good.
But for me the wait time to get to the hotel was like 1-2 hours.
not bad considering that the total wait was 20+ hours but the sooner u get us to the hotel the better it is.

The hotel facilities are average, food is good, pretty sure that they had vegetarian stuff too ( i am non veg ).
they had a game room where you can go play TT.

The major drawback withthe hotel is that it is an Airport hotel , so u cannot roam outside .

This is all 2 year ago info , so it can change.
check out epinions for newer information/reviews.

I lived in Kuwait and Bahrain for fifteen years. These are quite advanced countries. Non-Moslem women don't have to wear burkhas or forced to pray. I have always been vegetarian and never had any problem finding vegetarian food in these countires. Don't believe everything that the Western media portrays of the rest of the world.

I do not agree with Bhadradee!!!

It does not matter if someone wants to discuss this here on this FORUM.

Atleast someone can ask these kinds of travel questions once a while. The forum is created to help others and not to thwart.

And I know you understand that the best information you can get on these issues is from someone who has experience with all this before.
So let them share their experience and increase your common knowledge..

It is blatant so state that ask about this to EMBASSY or a TRAVEL AGENT...
The same argument can be true regarding INS Issues, ASK BCIS, or your LAWYER...........then why the need of this FORUM???

Yes, Bhadradee.... just be patient with others..

Dee,

If you do not want to add anything to any discussion, no one is forcing you. This is a open forum for all people affected by immigration and sometimes people may ask a question not related. We just have to tell them what we know and move on... as GCALABAMA said, lets help not scare people away. May be someday you yourself may have a question on which you need other's opinion, wouldn't you try the same ?
