Flight instructing in the United States

I hold a flight instructor certificate in the US and Im currently in the country under a B1/B2 tourist visa to build the hours I need to flight instruct back in my country.

It was pretty clear in my mind that you cant work in the US under a tourist visa, but 2 days ago a person at the flight school Im flying at told me I could get a Flight Instructor checkout and "work" as an independant (freelance) CFI. From what I understand, i wouldnt be employed at the school, they could simply allow me to instruct in their airplanes to whoever I bring. Would that actually be considered as work? What about If I flew ad honorem (I have friends stuck at flight ratings that I may be able to help out) would that count as work?. I just want to make sure, providing "dual given" (ie flight instruction) wouldnt violate the restrictions that apply to the visitors visa as Im not planing to jeopardize my current legal migratory status. The person that told me about the cfi check out was the check in guy at the flight school, so he wasnt sure about the migratory stuff.

Any Ideas on where can I get further and more accurate information about this?
