fixing appointments for both B1 and H4

My company is asking me to take appointment for B1 visa. However, my husband is also applying for his H1 visa from his compnay and hence my H4 too. Will it be a problem taking 2 appointments with the visa consulate for the above said visas. In case I get my B1 visa, will it be ok to travel to US while I have applied for H4 too
 
I think that you do not have complete knowledge of the H visa.

Based on the assumption that both of you are currently in India I will explain.

1. your husband's H1 will be applied for in advance becuase that requires prioer approval by the immigartion department. But not for H4. This is actually called approval only.

2. You take an appointemnt at the consulate and there you will try to get the H1 and H4 as applicable. This is where you get the actual stamp on passport.
Same way as you would for B1.

Now if that clarifies the things that you will not ahve applied for H4 till you actually get take the appointemnt and appear for interview for H4.

You can safely apply for B1.

In fact if you get B1 now you can later apply for H4 and have both stamps on your passport at the same time.

But remeber that when you enter USA you will have to choose one status over other and cannot have both. So if you choose H4 you cannot work for your company on B1, without reenetring on B1.
Reverse works for H4.
