First NJ Immi meeting

We had our first NJ meeting yesterday (Sunday, 03/07/2004) at rajum’s residence. Big thanks to rajum for arranging the meeting and volunteering his house as the venue and also for the snacks. We definitely need more people like rajum who sacrifice their valuable time and money for the cause of this injustice on all immigrants. Three cheers to rajum.

Around ten people (including dsatish and rajum from the core team) were able to attend the meeting. Thanks to Mr. Khanna’s time as well, he happily accepted our invitation and we were able to conference him in. We all should be thankful and proud of Mr. Khanna, apart from being a experienced attorney and best in his profession, he is a person with a heart. He understands all our problems and feels our pain and frustration.

We discussed about --

Our problems with each other.
The latest with the law suit.
Problems faced at government offices like DMV/MVC
Meeting local politicians and getting their support
Getting more signatures to support Mr. Khanna
Getting fund as soon as the immigrationportal.org website is ready. (FYI:We have already started getting checks and accumulated some fund)
Getting the help of media to spread our work

It was a perfect venue and atmosphere to meet with people who are suffering because of the delays caused by USCIS.

We made a decision to meet again with a clear plan after the immigrationportal.org website is ready, so that we can refer to this website before meeting politicians and press.

Thanks for posting the minutes. It was really nice to meet fellows in the same boat. I am lookin forward to more such meetings with more people. Those who couldn't attend yesterday's meeting, certainly missed an interesting meeting and discussion. It was really a relaxed atmosphere. Thanks, rajum.

good to know

It is good to know that meeting was a success. Sorry I couldn't make it due to previous plans and also unexpected issues with I140.

Hope to join in for the next one.

Thanks to rajum for making it happen and Rajeev for showing sympathy for our cause.

Thanks for the update. Sorry I was unable to attend due to after effects of week long flu. Hope to attend the next time. By when is the immigrationportal.org website expected to be up and running?
